Here's what I'm working on now. I don't really have a name other than "the Table Piece". It is different than alot of my past Hardanger projects in that it is "open". I personally love having every single inch of a piece filled with stitching but I thought I would do something different.
I love the stitching. I have to say though that I have never had to rip out more stitching than I have on this piece! Don't ask me why. It isn't like it is extremely difficult or anything. The stitching is nearly perfect. BUT....the colors?? That's a different story. When I selected the colors, everything went so well together. But now that it is stitched, I think the yellow may be too light. Or the orange/green may be too dark. What do you think?
I decided not to worry about the colors yet. I am going to just continue on with the details...the cutting, wrapping etc. And when it is done, if I have to do something to darken it up in the middle, I'll decide then. I am thinking that once the details are done, it might automatically darken up the middle some.

Hi! The work is wonderful and the patterns are great ... but ... unfortunately I do agree that there is something off about the colors. It isn't that they don't go well together. You selected carefully. I think the problem might lie in the fact that you used each shade in totally different areas. There's nothing "light" near the "dark" and nothing "dark" near the "light". Perhaps some sort of "line" or other sort of simply definition around the center motifs but in your darker colors might help. Of course, this is all being very picky because the piece is great with or without any discussion on the colors. Besides, who doesn't like variegated thread? Susan
