I got a second orchid (the top one) this past weekend. And we got the kind of baskets that hang flat on the wall.
So, yes, even though I said I wasn't ever going to get another plant...well, I just had to to make it work!

Something New
I've had this idea for a long time now. And the blank white wall really needed something but I didn't want anything right over the TV. When my sister Sonya was here this summer, she gave me a beautiful orchid. I've never had an orchid before but it seems to like it here. I had it sitting on the TV stand and it did really well. So I incorporated this orchid with my wall project...and this is what I came up with.....

Love your recent posts...especially the detail shots from the Munich Rock Show. I'm thrilled that you got the canvases I sent. They were part of the stash that a nice, young geography professor at the University of South Carolina inherited from her grandmother. The grandmother lived in Claremont, CA and was obviously a member of some sort of fiber guild. There were plenty of UFOs. The granddaughter is seriously thinking about taking up cross stitch; so, we sorted out everything she might need. I ended up with the most amazing pile of wool and other yarns plus most of the stash of vintage linens. (I insisted the granddaughter keep this one, absolutely gorgeous tablecloth as an heirloom.) The granddaughter admitted that, like most of us, all these vintage linens and needlepoint supplies would probably sit in some neglected cabinet until she, too, died....so she wanted to pass them on to people who might USE THEM. Thus, I send you the canvases....with the hope that you will use them to expand your own creative energies....especially on the ones the grandmother started that were just geometric patterns. I'm glad to hear that you like them and are already trying your hand at a little design work! I can't wait to see the results. To continue the story, the stretcher strips and any unstarted, painted canvas were donated to a local needlepoint shop in Lexington, SC called The Needler. Some of the yarn was passed on to knitters. Two of the vintage linen pieces are already on the back of one of my Grave Rubbing Art Quilts. So....use the canvas!
Tomorrow Steve and I pick up the Penske rental truck, load Blues Chapel, and head to Denton, TX. Friday is "installation day". Saturday I give a talk to the museum docents followed by and hour-and-a-half Power Point presentation for the area fiber guilds/public. Sunday is the opening reception and we start back toward South Carolina. It is a BUSY TIME!
